How does an organization develop action plans and best practices?

An organization can develop action plans through the use of a simple 4-step G.A.M.E. plan process.

  1. Gather input and develop your game plan goal through reviewing the results, discussing those results with employees and determining the primary causes of those issues you will address.
  2. Determine Actions needed to meet those goals through brainstorming sessions and an evaluation of which actions are most viable to solve the problem and are realistic to your budget, span of control, timeframe and level of management involvement required.
  3. Design the Methods needed to implement your actions. Issues to consider include who will be responsible to implement the actions and by when, what obstacles might prevent the successful completion of those actions and how will you deal with those obstacles. A key component of this step is to create good employee action teams that are dedicated to implementing the actions and have the authority and skills to solve the issues.
  4. Evaluate your plans. Determine how you can measure if the plan is working and make sure to track the progress.
Internal best practices will evolve from the measurement of these actions and their linkages to organizational change. The best organizations communicate their progress and successes to all employees at every step of the process. Not only are plans implemented but employees also know that the actions taken link directly back to the results of the survey.
